I have approximately 54 hours of material, including selected readings
from my own and other people's writing. From this small library of
material I distill a number of shorter presentations. Some are geared
for junior grades (K-2), others for middle schoolers (3-6), and still
others for adults. Most of my talks are about an hour in length.
Pre-school and kindergarten run shorter.
My approach is to look at stories based on personal experience
translated into fiction. (That, of course, is how I write myself.)
Take a moment in the day, and ask a couple of questions about it. Take
the same moment into the conditional future. . . . Well, I'm not going
to give it all away now, but it involves dealing with THE question that
all fiction revolves around.
Teachers and students will emerge from my seminar with useable
hands-on material. I guarantee it. They will also emerge with smiles
on their faces and springs in their steps. They will be slimmer and
taller, and their love lives will have taken a great leap forward.
Sounds good, eh? Hell, if I didn't have to give the seminar I'd take it
myself.
